The author, William Darlington (1782-1863), was the president of the Chester County Bank (or National Bank of Chester County), represented Pennsylvania in Congress, founded and was president of the Chester County Medical Society, and was a well-known botanist. In Very Good- Condition: edges are rubbed; front board is scraped; closed tear in frontispiece map, archivally repaired; old dampstain along lower edge of endpapers only; foxing throughout, generally light; otherwise, clean and tight.
