Gilt-tooled title on black leather label in second compartment. Publisher's catalog of medical publications on final 32 pages. The author, Dr. John Ashhurst (1846-1901), was a surgeon at the Hospital of the Protestant Episcopal Church and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia. From 1877 to 1900 he was Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Very scarce. A heavy book; for international shipping, it will have to be sent by priority international.
