London: Walton and Maberly, 1856. Hardcover. Sixth Edition. Vol. 3 only: iv, 524 p.: many in-text drawings; 19 cm. Contemporary full polished calf with six spine compartments between raised bands. Black leather labels in second and fourth compartments with gilt-tooled title, Quain's Anatomy, and volume number. Gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Both boards have border of double gilt rules and blind-rolled leaves. All page edges gilt. Heavily gilt-decorated turn-ins. Pale yellow endpapers. Gilt-tooled center medallion on front cover reading "Schola Medicinae Bristol," dated 1828, with the motto "Non audet nisi qui didicit dare" and the Bristol coat of arms. The same blind-stamped on the back cover. Former owner stamp on front free endpaper: "A. Rees, Bristol." This volume covers eyes, ears, noses, organs of digestion, circulation, respiration, and reproduction, urinary organs, and surgical anatomy.
