Contemporary plain black paper over boards with black leather over spine with gilt-tooled decoration (most of which is lacking). Frontispiece is engraving of the meeting of the bishops of Dunkeld and Glasgow engraved by W. H. Lizars from a drawing by Wm. D. Smith. Added engraved title page bears imprint of Wm. Burgess, New York, dated 1831. Former owner's inscription on blank page following front free endpaper: Richard Morris Smith, 1836. Richard Morris Smith (1827-1896) was a Philadelphia architect and the author of The Burlington Smiths. In Good- Condition: lacking most of leather over spine; front board is partially detached; light foxing, heavier on 2 engraved leaves and title page; otherwise, clean and solid. Good -. Item #007983
