Edwards (1898-1959) was first published in 1932. He used research conducted by Fisk University faculty and students on the consumer activities of the Black residents of 17 southern cities to analyze the best ways to devise advertising aimed at that part of the market. The 62 tables contain a wealth of data about Black urban residents in southern American cities.
