No date of publication; the "66th Edition" was published in the 1950s. Gift inscription dated Christmas 1954. Edward William Cole (1832-1918) was an Australian publisher and bookseller in Melbourne. The illustration on the back cover portrayed part of his Book Arcade. He first published Cole's Funny Picture Book No. 1 in 1879 and Cole's Funny Picture Book No. 2 in 1909. They were reprinted many times because of their popularity and his grandson published two additional volumes. Containing many illustrations, poems, and prose, often humorous. Cole believed "All men are brothers," as the front cover states, and included content to help children learn about people who lived in other parts of the world. The final section is "The Oneness of Man and the Coming Federation of the World," which contains 570 portraits of people from around the world. The final page contains 20 portraits of "Negro Statesmen, Medical Doctors and Theological Doctors." Also includes a humorous spoof of The Night Before Christmas, Night After Christmas, in which the children get sick from having eaten much too much and are visited by the doctor instead of Saint Nick.
