Handwritten letter signed by Admiral Lewis Bayly
1921. 1 handwritten letter by Admiral Lewis Bayly to an unnamed recipient who had requested his autograph. Dated 27 Feb. 1921, on board the S. S. Celtic en route from New York to Liverpool. Admiral Lewis Bayly (1857-1938) served in World War One in command of joint British and American naval forces. He retired in 1919 and in 1921 visited the United States at the invitation of officers who had served under him. This short letter must have been written while on his return trip. In Very Good- Condition: closed 1-cm. tear from one edge, without impact on writing; just starting to separate along horizontal fold; minor loss at one upper corner; otherwise, clean and solid.
