Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) was a radio announcer before signing with Warner Brothers in 1937, which began a steady career that lasted until 1964. In 1947, as presient of the Screen Actors Guild, he testified before HUAC. From 1953 to 1962 he was the host of General Electric Theater and in 1964 and 1965 he hosted Death Valley Days. He had been moving to the right politically and in late 1965, after the publication of this autobiography, announced that he was running for governor of California. He was to serve at governor from 1967 to 1975 and then as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989.
