West Chester, Pa. Geo. F. Worrall, 1858. #1: On 1 Sept. 1858, for $196 John Gilmore of Delaware Township, Juniata County, mortgaged to John Landis a house and lot that he bought from Landis. Signed by witnesses James B. Mode and Wm. Theeck. Lacking the lower right-hand corner, where the signature of John Gilmore would have been. #2: On 2 April 1860 John Landis and Charlotte, his wife, of Delaware Township, Juniata County, sold to Nathaniel Williams of the same place for $246 a house and 17-acre lot in Delaware Township. Signed by John Landis, and witnesses Justice of the Peace Henry Cross and John M. Landis. Charlotte Landis was illiterate and signed with her mark. This is a printed form for Chester County, which was altered for use by Juniata County. On the back is a statement that on 2 Dec. 1862 the property was sold by Nathaniel Williams and Susanna, his wife, for $300 to Mahlon Farra. Signed by Susanna Williams, and witnesses James B. Mode and David Brown. Nathaniel Williams was illiterate and signed with his mark. In Good Condition: #1: lacking the lower right-hand corner; arithmetic notations in pencil on the back; otherwise, clean and solid; #2: closed 15-cm. split in center without loss; clean and bright.
