1713. One handwritten parchment indenture (80 x 84 cm.) dated 3 April 1713. In recognition of the upcoming marriage of John Ayling of Bentley, Southhampton, and Mary Wyburd [Wiburd], John Ayling, the elder, will pay 1,000 pounds to John Ayling the younger, and 200 pounds will be paid by John Wyburd to John Ayling the younger within 2 months after the birth of the first child, and another 100 pounds within 2 months after the birth of the second child, in addition to granting rights to the manor called Puray or Perryland in Bentley parish, Hampshire. Armorially embellished initial letter; 9 red seals with signatures; blue stamp in margin. Although the bride's family name is spelled "Wyburd" throughout the document, both the bride and her father sign their names "Wiburd." References family members Thomas Ayling of Bentley, Southampton, yeoman, and his wife Sarah; John Wyburd, tallowchandler of London; John Ayling of Empshott in Southhampton, yeoman; John Wyburd, the younger, of St. Leonard Shoreditch in Middlesex, mealeman; and William Yalden, the elder, of Haslemere in Surrey, gentleman, and William Yalden, the younger, of Haslemere, gentleman.
