Five Alitalia Menus from New York-to-Milan and New York-to-Rome Flights -- Obelisk Series

Rome, Italy: Alitalia, 1966. 5 menus; each consists of one folded sheet with a color front illustration; 24 cm. high. Printed by Staderini, Rome. The front illustrations appear to be from unidentified 18th-century prints. The two New York-to-Milan menus each have "5-66" in the lower right-hand corner of the menu (indicating May 1966?). The front illustration on one is Obelisco Minerveo (also known as Elephant and Obelisk), which stands near the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Milan. The other is Obelisco Vaticano, the Vatican Obelisk in Vatican City. The three New York-to-Rome menus are dated 7-66 and 11-66. The first illustration is of Obelisco Mattejano, which is in the gardens of the Villa Celimontana in Rome. The second is of Obelisco Quirinale, which is one of the 13 ancient obelisks of Rome, part of the Dioscuri fountain in Piazza del Quirinale. The third is Obelisco Esquilino, also one of the 13 ancient obelisks of Rome, located in Piazza dell'Esquilino, behind the apse of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. In Fine Condition: clean and bright. Fine. Item #008355
