The foreword, dated 1922, by Lieut.-General Nelson A. Miles includes his facsimile signature and recounts his experience in 1874 based out of Fort Dodge fighting Native Americans in the western United States. He concludes "If the Indians had always been humanely and honestly dealt with, there would have been but few of the troubles which have occurrred in the many years gone by." The author, Forrestine C. Hooker, was the daughter of Gen. C. L. Cooper, "famous Indian fighter." -- dust jacket. Book is in Very Good Condition: pages are browning; otherwise, clean and tight.
