On 14 Feb. 1887, Ellen A. Landis and John M. Landis, her husband, of the city of Harrisburg, sold to Catharine Sauber Kreisher of Delaware Township, Juniata County, Pa., for $100 a tract of about 8 acres in Delaware Township, Juniata County. This indenture replaces a prior deed from 1873, which is supposed to have been destroyed. Signed by John M. Landis; the witness, notary public William Wolf; and the Juniata County Recorder Edward E. Berry. Ellen A. Landis was illiterate and signed with her mark. With the red stamp of the notary public William Wolf and the embossed stamp of the Juniata County Recorder's office.
