Henry Latrobe Roosevelt (1879-1936) was Assistant Secretary of the Navy from 1933 until his death in 1936. The Democratic Women's Luncheon Club of Philadelphia was established in 1921 by a group of women who met once a month with speakers on topics related to the Democratic Party and the League of Nations. After the election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt to the presidency they added a focus on the recovery program and on attaining peace. Henry Latrobe Roosevelt was invited to address the club on naval defense. This pamphlet includes introductory remarks by the chair, only identifed as Chairman Hood, and a few questions and answers between Roosevelt and Chair(woman) Hood. Scarce.
