The photographer was Alfred Ellis (1854-1930), a British photographer who specialized in theatrical photography. The subject, Frank Gillmore (1867-1943), was an English actor who was born in New York City when his parents were touring. His mother, Emily Thorne, and her sister, Sarah Thorne, and brothers were all actors. He spent his career on both the English and American stages. He was a founder of Actors' Equity in 1913 and served as president from 1929 to 1937. In Very Good+ Condition: light soiling of leaf; the photograph is clean and crisp. Very Good +. Item #009174
