Philadelphia: Stanley Theatre, 1924. Paperback. [16] p.: illustrations; 25 cm. The Stanley Theatre opened in 1921, the second theater named after Stanley Masbaum. A 55-piece orchestra accompanied silent movies. Al Capone was arrested in the lobby in May 1929 for having a concealed weapon. It was demolished in 1973. The front cover of this magazine program shows the front of the theater and a Chandler Six automobile. The program included 40 minutes of organ, orchestral, and vocal music leading up to the feature His Children's Children, starring Bebe Daniels, followed by the cartoon Felix Loses Out, and a final organ selection. The organists were William Klaiss and Lewis White and the orchestra was conducted by Czech-American conductor and composer Josef Pasternack (1881-1940). Includes film news and advertisements, many illustrated, for Philadelphia businesses. Very scarce. In Good Condition: cover is lightly soiled and slightly browned; cover has chipping at edges; internal pages are clean and solid. Good. Item #009180
