The front of the portfolio advertises the company with an illustration of Philadelphia City Hall. Charles Moseley Swain (1849-1904) is listed as president, a position he filled from the company's incorporation in 1886 until his death in 1904. The address given is 1321 Walnut St., which was the company's address until May 1888 when it moved to 929 Chestnut St. The back cover on the outside has, printed in gilt, advertisements for 4 Philadelphia businesses. The portfolio was printed by Wise & Van Horn. The City Trust, Safe Deposit and Surety Company was sent into receivership in 1905 largely because of forgeries passed by Benjamin Gaskill.
