Title page printed in red and black. George Thorn-Drury (1860-1931) is generally considered to be the compiler of this work. Written on the title page: "G. E. Bentley, Chicago October 1941." Former owner Gerald Eades Bentley (1901-1994) was the author of the foundational seven-volume work The Jacobean and Caroline Stage, as well as other works on Shakespeare and other authors of the English Renaissance. He taught at the University of Chicago from 1929 to 1945, when he became the Murray Professor English at Princeton University. He made pencilled marginal notes throughout this publication, each entry marked with either "OK" or crossed out. His son Gerald Eades Bentley, Jr., was a William Blake specialist. Very scarce. In Good Condition: front and back wrapper are detached but present with chipping along edges; closed 3-cm. tear from one edge of back wrapper; title page is browning; a few pages are browning along edges; otherwise, clean and solid other than notes by Bentley.
