Wash Day Trade Card Collection: Niagara Gloss Starch, Reckitt's Paris Blue, Linen Glacé

1890. Cards. 3 late 19th-century wash day-related trade cards: Niagara Gloss Starch, Reckitt's Paris Blue (which made linen look whiter), and Linen Glacé (which brightened color fabrics). The Niagara Gloss Starch card is 12 x 8.5 cm. with a color illustration on the front of a pretty girl with cherries draped over her; no printing on the back. The Reckitt's Paris Blue is 7.5 x 11 cm. with a color illustration on the front of a girl carrying a doll and an umbrella and pulling cat in it; the back has information about a contest for designs illustrating the product. The Linen Glacé card has a color illustration of flowers on the front with text about the product on the back, including a testimonial by Mrs. Henry Ward Beecher; the front states "sold by Jackson & Smith, Ansonia, Ct." No date of publication. Eunice White Beecher (Mrs. Henry Ward Beecher) died in 1897. In Very Good- Condition: the backs are scraped, with some loss of text; the fronts are clean and bright.
