Messa [and] Magnificat [manuscript score]

S.l. Bonifazio, n.d. Hardcover. 2 volumes (23 x 31 cm.) containing the manuscript scores for a Mass and a Magnificat by Bonifazio Asioli (1769-1832), first director of the Milan Conservatory. Volumes have leather spines with marbled paper over boards and a paper label on the front of each. Written on the label of the first volume is "Messa Asioli"; the label on the second is blank. The Magnificat is at the end of the second volume with a first page titled "Magnificat Asioli" and "?. Ridolfi" at the lower edge. The Mass is scored for 1st and 2nd violins, viola, flute, 1st and 2nd clarinets, horn, and bassoon, along with 2 tenor and 2 bass lines. Although the few works by Asioli available today include chamber works for cello, this orchestra included neither cellos nor basses. The Magnificat is scored for three vocal lines and keyboard. A heavy set; for international shipping, the U.S. Postal Service requires that it be shipped by priority/expedited shipping. In Good Condition: boards are nearly detached; loss at ends of spine and along edges; discoloration on along edges; some insect damage along gutter in second volume; solid and complete. Good.
