The Whitpain Library Company was a subscription library established in 1817 in Broad Ax, a village in Whitpain Township, Pennsylvania; in 1884 it reported a collection of about 2,000 volumes. Taylor; reports on the history and status of aspects of agriculture in each state, with relevant observations from people in all parts of the country; data on quantity and value of material transported via the New York canals; and data on other locations where canals facilitated trade, which includes Milan, Ohio, which had a canal to Lake Erie from 1839 to 1867.
