Born in France, she studied art at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Roger Institut voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp, and the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. She and her husband, artist Charles Stegeman, moved to Vancouver, Canada, in 1951; she taught painting at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and the Banff School of Fine Arts summer schools. They moved to Chicago in 1963 and Philadelphia in 1969. After her divorce in 1976 she spent part of her time in Brussels; she exhibited in Canada, the United States, and Belgium.
