John Henry Hopkins (1792-1868) led an interesting life before becoming the first bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont and the 8th presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States, including playing in an orchestra in Philadelphia and working on the plates in the first volume of Alexander Wilson's Birds of America. This address includes a review of Hopkins' activities in the diocese in the previous year. Scarce.
