La Vie Parisienne January-December 1912
Paris: La Vie Parisienne, 1912. Hardcover. 1 bound volume containing issues of La Vie Parisienne from Jan. 6 through Dec. 28, 1912. 947, [1] pages: heavily illustrated, including one double-page illustration in each issue; 34 cm. Half morocco with red morocco-grain cloth over boards. Floral patterned endpapers. The French weekly magazine La Vie Parisienne, founded in Paris in 1863, evolved in the early 20th century into a mildly risqué publication. Contains fashion, fiction, humor, and many partially clad women as well as some who have given up on the effort to wear anything at all. Includes serialized novels La Fameuse Comédienne by Abel Hermant and La Coup de Gong by Henry Duvernois; and a drawing of Nijinsky in Dieu Bleu, which opened in May 1912. Many illustrations are by Fabien Fabiano (1882-1962). A very heavy book; for international shipping, the U.S. Postal Service requires that it be shipped by priority/expedited shipping. In Good Condition: lacking leather over spine; both boards are detached but present; a few preliminary and final leaves are detached but present; closed 6-cm. tear from lower edge of May 18, 1912, front cover; loss at lower right edge of Sept. 14, 1912, front cover; loss of 2 cm. along fore-edges of final leaf and back cover of Dec. 7, 1912; pages are sunned along the edges; chipping along some edges; occasional light soiling; otherwise, clean and solid.
