Red morocco spine with gilt-tooled spine title; dark red pebble-grain cloth over boards. All page edges have red speckling. White endpapers with blue fibers. Unpaginated pages following text contain a list of books, maps, views, and plans relating to the County of Middlesex; additions and corrections; indices; and directions for placing the plates to London and Middlesex. Ex-library: two small handwritten spine labels; front fixed endpaper bears late 19th-century bookplate of Sage Public Library, West Bay City, Mich.; small circulation pocket on back fixed endpaper. The number "843" is faintly stamped at the foot of the the first page of text. This is the fourteenth volume in an extensive set of books on the counties of England and Wales, arranged alphabetically. This volume concludes the coverage of Middlesex County and London begun in volume 10. Plates include views of: Chelsea Hospital; Brandenburgh House (since demolished); Holland House (largely destroyed in World War I); St. Pancras Church; Caen Wood; Highgate Archway; Hackney Church; Chiswick House; Castle Hill Lodge (replaced in 1845); Twyford Abbey (now abandoned); Hampton Court Palace; Staines Bridge; and Wyer Hall (demolished 1818).
