Red morocco spine with gilt-tooled spine title; dark red pebble-grain cloth over boards. All page edges have red speckling. White endpapers with blue fibers. Ex-library: remains of handwritten labels on spine; front fixed endpaper bears late 19th-century bookplate of Sage Public Library, West Bay City, Mich.; small circulation pocket on back fixed endpaper. The number "848" is faintly stamped at the foot of the the first page of text. Unpaginated pages following text contain lists of books, maps, and views relating to the Counties of Somersetshire and Staffordshire (Salop); and indices. Plates include views of: Bristol Cathedral (prior to the completion of the western towers); Tutbury Church (St. Mary's Church, Tutbury); the Swilcar Oak, Staffordshire (uprooted in 1941); the ruins of Croxden Abbey; Ball Haye, Staffordshire (Ball Haye Hall was demolished in 1972); Sandwell Hall (demolished in 1928); and Ranton Abbey (the tower remains but the house was burned during World War II).
