Trinidad, Colorado: Cook & Aultman, 1889. 2 photographs on mats with "Cook & Altman" and "Trinidad, Colo." stamped in gilt at the lower edges. One shows 2 burros carrying large amounts of firewood, with a dog lying in the shade cast by one of them; written on the back in pencil: "Mexican loads of wood." The other shows 3 or 4 families consisting of 13 people, a duck, and the dog from the first photograph, standing in front of an adobe structure; written on the back in pencil: "Mexican house and oven." Undated; Cook & Aultman was established in 1889 but J.F. Cook left soon thereafter. Oliver E. Aultman (1867-1953) later changed the name to the Aultman Studio. The earliest photographs labeled "Cook & Aultman" are very scarce. In Very Good Condition: edges of mats are rubbed; images are clean and crisp. Very Good. Item #011988
